Things To Do In San Jose California

Beware of the Sharks!

silicon valley traffic signAs one of the country's top NHL hockey teams has brought attention to this beautiful landscape, San Jose shares a rich history filled with Internet booms, entertainment, and diverse foods. The heart of the Silicon Valley can't be stopped as some of the most successful companies have made their home in the breathtaking surroundings of San Jose. But there is so much more to this unique town than just technology. One of the biggest surprises to many visitors find is that the cuisine of San Jose is amazing!

Listing Some San Jose Restaurants

For foodies new to the Bay Area, Id like to help break the hegemony of San Francisco's lure and offer a tantalizing selection of the very best San Jose restaurants. Any one of these fine establishments can give San Fran favorites a run for their money, and in my opinion, outshine them in all aspects. From the romantic to the family friendly, there is something for everyone in San Jose. My culinary list is a downtown favorite,Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana.Nestled in the historic Sainte Claire Hotel, Il Fornaio offers some of the finest Florentine dishes outside of Italy. They only use the freshest local meats and produce, which means their dishes are not to be believed. My personal favorite: the Calamaretti Fritti. Unbelievable. Moving on.The Grill on the Alley has been serving American standards to locals and tourists alike for years. This retro grill is a great foray into iconic dining. Conjure imagines of the Rat Pack hanging out, having a laugh and great steak, and youll understand the appeal of the Grill. My favorite: the double-cut Colorado lamb chops with fresh mint sauce. Mind blowing.Should a taste of the Mediterranean be more to your liking, then Arya Global Cuisine is sure to delight. Nestled in Apples backyard, Cupertino, Arya blends Italian and Persian cuisine to produce a delectable culinary fusion. From chicken soltani to baked manicotti, you will be enticed to book a flight to Rome or Tehran after you sample their dishes.Last, but not least is a Californian staple for Bay Area locals. The Los Gatos Brewing Company has earned its reputation for being the standard-bearer for Californian cuisine. Flecked with Asian and Italian influences, the Brewing Company is the perfect place to catch a casual lunch or late dinner. My favorite: anything on the menu and any of the house-crafted beers.Downtown San JoseMore Information: If you would like to patronize some of the best San Jose restaurants, head downtown and enjoy. So whether you are just traveling through for some business, here to catch a Sharks game, or you have decided to call San Jose, CA your new home, get out and enjoy some night life and grab a good meal while your at it.

College Students Heard Whimpering, But Had No Idea What Was Hiding On Campus

Hope For Paws was recently called to a campus where students spotted a homeless Chihuahua hiding in a field. They thought she might have given birth to puppies and knew she needed help ASAP.

Thankfully, Eldad Hagar quickly showed up on the scene, with help and a cheeseburger in hand.

The small family was hiding in a trench, and was able to be cornered without too much stress.

Unfortunately, one of the puppies was in severe pain. The little girl, Ivy, had severe hydrocephalus (which is fluid in the brain). They had to put her down to let her be at peace.

The mother and two remaining puppies were cleaned up and given a clean bill of health. All of them are currently available for adoption, so if you're interested in giving one a home, please visit Doggies 911 Rescue.

If you'd like to help Hope For Paws rescue more dogs, please visit their site and consider giving a donation. Every little bit helps.

See This Pond? It’s Hiding A Secret That You’re Going To Absolutely Love…. Trust Me.

Preparing your house and property for the summer months can be a daunting task, especially if you need to perform maintenance on your pools or decks. During the spring, some families even decide to add some new features to their yards to be enjoyed in the warmer months. The pond you see below would be a refreshing and beautiful addition to any home during the summer. With the help of David Pagan Butler, many families are finding a new way to add fun features to their yard.

A pond like this would be beautiful and serene.

Not only that, but it attracts amazing wildlife to the yard.

Imagine reclining by this cool water.

And then swimming in it!

What makes David's ponds so special is that they are actually something called Organic Pools. These are natural swimming pools that allow the growth of wildlife and are environmentally friendly. "The nutrient level in an organic pool is carefully restricted so competition for the limiting nutrient (usually phosphorous) is fierce. In these circumstances, pond plants outperform algae, keeping it suppressed and barely hanging in at the margins. A pond, low in nutrients, is a healthy environment for wildlife. An organic pool is teeming with life."

The organic pools are created in such a way so that they are safe to swim in, but don't restrict plant growth.

In fact, the plants and animals that are attracted to the pond stop the growth of algae.

You can purchase guides that help you build your own organic swimming pools.

One of the most important things to remember is that the water is still completely clean and hygienic.

This isn't your average pool.

If done correctly, the water will be drinking water quality AND benefits the wildlife.

To learn more about David's Organic Pools, watch this video. If you're interested in purchasing a DIY DVD about how to make your own pool, click here.

(H/T LifeBuzz) If you have enough space on your property, build an Organic Pool. Not only will you be helping the local wildlife and creating a peaceful place for you and your family to relax... but you'll be the only person for miles around with a pool like this. Click below to share this awesome new pool idea. Cooling off in the summer should be a fun, enjoyable experience (and not a hot and sweaty drive to the beach).

She Lived Under A Car When They Found Her, And Was Much Sicker Than They Thought

When Hope For Paws got a call about a severely matted pup living under a car, it seemed like all she needed was a haircut, a bath, and a few good meals.

But once they did some blood work, they found out she was much worse for the wear than they'd originally thought. Just a little longer on the streets would have meant the end...

Watch her transformation here:

This is just another reminder that even if an animal looks relatively alright on the outside, there could be something seriously wrong hiding under all the dirt and extra hair. To help more pups like Violet find their way to healthy and happy, loving homes, please consider donating to Hope For Paws.

Obama: ‘No serious evidence’ Obamacare is holding back economic growth [video]

http://twitter.com/#!/ellencarmichael/status/379654361452126208

Today, President Obama made some remarks about the horrible shooting at the Washington Navy Yard before delivering a scheduled address about the economy on the fifth anniversary of the financial crisis. During economic portion of the address, Obama claimed there is “no hard evidence” that Obamacare is putting a clamp on the economy. The claim picks up on Jay Carney’s assertion in July that allegations that Obamacare reduces full time hiring are “belied by the facts.”

Here’s President Obama making that claim today:

Many tweeters weren’t buying what Obama was selling:

Yes, Obamacare is going to be great, which is why Big Labor has been begging the administration for an exemption from some of its provisions.

Maybe we should start blaming the negative economic effects of Obamacare on global warming. That way, Obama could be categorized as “a denier”:

Here are some related stories that the president considers “not serious evidence” of Obamacare’s negative economic impact:
