Coolsculpting Sacramento highlighted on Fox 40 News

Fox 40 in Sacramento highlights CoolSculpting and interviews plastic surgeon Dr. David Kaufman about the new body contouring procedure.

The Sacramento Fox 40 News team investigated Coolsculpting, the latest in fat freezing technology that literally freezes the fat right out of stubborn areas of the body.  The segment begins by stating that the idea of freezing fat may sound sketchy, but the fact that losing fat may not be all about burning calories, but rather about freezing fat cells. It looks like a vacuum, but instead of sucking up dirt, it sucks up your fat. "It works under the premise of Cryolipolysis, a fancy way of saying 'cold kills fat cells'", says Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Christa Clark. With the FDA's approval, Coolsculpting is getting a lot of attention.  Dr. Oz, Oprah, The Doctors, and even Rachel Ray have all featured it on their shows.  With no needles, knives, or anesthesia, it sounds like a great plan to get rid of stubborn fat areas. One local Sacramento mom put Coolsculpting to the test.  During the procedure, she was asked how it felt. "It's just a little pinch, kind of cold, but other than that it's fine.  It's not anything like surgery."

How the Coolsculpting Treatment Works

Dr. Clark explains, "It's left there for one hour, and effectively the fat gets frost bite." In that process, the cold literally kills up to 20% of the fat cells exposed. "The body's cells come in and break it all down and it's flushed out of the body through the liver", further explains Dr. Clark. After just one treatment, the patients see gradually improvements over the next 8 weeks.  Further treatments can be applied if necessary.  Each procedure is about 1 hour with absolutely no downtime. One patient tells us she has a 15-month-old at home and she just doesn't have the room for any downtime.  Coolscupting was a great option for her to shed some fat while maintaining her busy lifestyle.
